Some of the most timeless hits have been recorded on a Yamaha C Series piano. Now this legendary piano has been refined with many of the innovations from our flagship CF. The back posts, soundboard, ribs, strings and hammers have been redesigned for a more delicate attack, rich harmonics, infinite colors and a beautiful resonance capable of long sustained pianissimo tones and nuanced, expressive fortissimo. In the process of refining a legend, the CX has redefined what a grand piano could be.
With the power, tonality and expressive range of classic grand pianos, Yamaha baby grands are an admirable choice for smaller rooms and budgets.
ROOM FILLING SOUND
The GB1K and GC Series pianos may be small, but they have a powerful resonance and tone that brings out the subtle nuances of every note.
RICH, RESONANT WOODS
Great pianos start with the finest wood. Soundboards and ribs are crafted by Yamaha artisans using hand-selected spruce from Yamaha’s Kitami Wood Mill in Hokkaido, Japan.
BACK POSTS, FORWARD THINKING
These pianos share the robust back post design of our conservatory series pianos, giving them the powerful resonance, durability and tuning stability you might expect in a larger grand piano.
HAND-WOUND YAMAHA BASS STRINGS
Bass strings are crafted and hand wound under the watchful eye of Yamaha artisans exclusively for each piano.
ADVANCED V-PRO FRAME
Yamaha was the first company to use an advanced Vacuum Shield Mold casting technology called V-Pro to create a stronger, lighter, more durable frame worthy of the grandest grand piano. Every frame is built to Yamaha’s exacting specifications at their Iwata Forge in Japan.
A HAMMER LIKE NO OTHER
Yamaha’s unique hammer felt, crafted in Japan, has been designed to bring out the subtle tones of the instrument, and is tested to withstand fluctuations in temperature and humidity and continue playing beautifully for years to come.

Yamaha Baby Grands Testimonials
“I saw Yamaha’s advertisement saying “this baby is a prodigy”, and I had to agree with the statement. Although it is a compact-size piano, it has everything you need in this baby grand piano. The GC2 has a beautiful, brilliant, but sensitive sound in the upper register, and it provides dynamic sound despite the size. I would say it has captivated the expressive sound of the CX series piano without having a big cabinet. When I drive a small car, I know I cannot expect the quality of large car such as speed, precise control and comfort. However, I can expect the quality of the large pianos in this baby grand piano. It is suitable for smaller room but for someone who want a quality piano there.”
The GB1K & GC Series… I have played on The GB1K and GC Models for many hours over the past years. Keep in mind the genre I have studied the most is classical. I have played classical, rock, jazz, I’ve spent hours improvising, I’ve worked scales, I’ve played pop, I’ve listened to so many people play on these models, and I can honestly say I have enjoyed every minute of it. These models, with their touch and tone will bring you hours of good study, enjoyment, and bring you that much closer to creating art with your music.
What I can say is that Yamaha has accomplished what they aimed to do with these models. You can truly hear and feel aspects of the CX series in these compact baby grand models. If you are a beginner, if you are someone looking to invest in your child who is excelling at lessons, or an intermediate piano player looking to hone your skills, these models are a great option for you at more affordable pricing and space efficiency. If you are a serious player, someone who just loves sitting down to play and has for years, or someone looking for the next level of quality our of a grand piano and playing experience, you may want to check out the CX series or higher.”
