Roots and Branches
This is a quite unique collection of 38 musical memories by men and women from 23 different cultures. These refreshingly unfamiliar gems of childhood include hand game songs, game chants, circle dances, lullabies, work songs and songs for listening from Native American cultures. The book has an overview of each culture, a photo and story of each contributor, notes on each song with directions, original language and translation and reproducible transcriptions, maps, fact data on easy to read charts and mini-poster of three intercultural friends. The CD recording has selections as performed by the contributors in their language. Spiral, Grades K-6, 150 pages.
