This piece, arranged by Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory, gained its greatest significance during the Holocaust. Thousands of Jews sang this song in the gas chambers operated by the Nazis. Eyewitness accounts tell us that the music would decrescendo to silence as the gas choked the singers.
