Variations on a Theme of Glinka [Solo Oboe/Soprano Saxophone & Wind Ensemble]

Military bands at the time (1878) had all the instruments doubled many fold which would make the accompaniment much too heavy. Samuel Adler has tried to lighten the texture a bit without altering the basic sound.
