So begins the introduction to this collection by its arranger and composer Uzee Brown, Jr. This collection of eight spirituals for solo voice and piano is designed as both a recital set for an accomplished soloist or to be used throughout the Christian year during the appropriate seasons since there are songs for Christmas, Lent, Easter and general praise. We are confident that these arrangements will become standards in the concert repertoire of American singers.
