Dana Wilson always strives to introduce students and audiences to new ways of thinking about music and performance practices. This work serves somewhat as an incantation, a summoning up of, by means of a group music ritual, the goodness of the earth and, consequently, ourselves. Rhythmic vocalizations abound, juxtaposed with rhythmical, percussive ensemble writing. Dana Wilson is a master, and his works light up any program in which they are performed.
