Ruht wohl was premiered in April 2011 at the Aix-en-Provence Conservatory by Géraldine Dutroncy and Laurent Camatte, to whom it is dedicated. A short meditation on the tender refrain of the closing lullaby of Bach's St John Passion, Ruht wohl ('Rest in Peace') points back to my moving discovery of this immense masterpiece over 70 years ago.
