This work for trumpet/flugelhorn, horn, and tenor trombone was written in 2002 on commission from Dorothy Duncan as a gift to celebrate the fiftieth birthday of her brother, trumpet player James Duncan.
The titles of the 3 movements (Reflection - Solemn Hymn - Crooked Dance) summarize well the different moods each one expresses.
