Now Thank We All Our God is a flexible small ensemble setting for 8, 10, 12 or 14 handbells or handchimes. It is based on Nun Danket Alle Gott, written by Johann Crger and comes from Cantata 79 by Johann Sebastian Bach. In this setting, the piano takes the accompaniment while the handbells or handchimes ring the chorale. Only four ringers with 8 handbells are needed, but there are optional positions for up to 3 more ringers. It promises to be a fun piece to ring, and it is appropriate in church and community settings, especially during the Thanksgiving holiday.
