The Yougou Temple in Kaifeng City, in the Hunan Province of China is known as the Iron Pagoda due to its ruddy color. Composer David Bobrowitz conjures images of the far east with melodies based on the pentatonic scale and colorful percussion writing, including parts for Temple Blocks and Gong and a soli section for Chimes and Timpani.
