A newer text is paired with MERLE'S TUNE, a Hal Hopson hymntune found in over 30 hymnals. First used for the 2019 Presbyterian Association of Musicians conference at Montreat, this hymn concertato has optional brass quintet and timpani parts. Stanza 1 is in unison, Stanza 2 could be for solo voices, quartet, or SATB, Stanza 3 is for sopranos accompanied by the rest of the choir humming (using Hopson's original harmonization) and Stanza 4 is unison with descant concluding with Amens.
