The Selmer SAS711M Alto Saxophone

The SAS711 marks Selmer USA’s next generation of collaborative design with Henri Selmer Paris on an entry-level professional saxophone. Featuring a fully ribbed body construction, Pisoni Pro leather pads with metal resonators, blued steel springs, and hand engraving, the SAS711’s body is ideal for the advancing saxophonist. But it also comes with a Selmer Paris neck and mouthpiece designed specially for this horn to meet the needs of the advancing player. These powerful features and more make the SAS711 one of the most unique and value-packed alto saxophones in its class — and the only one that boasts an authentic Henri Selmer Paris neck and mouthpiece. If you’re ready for your first professional alto saxophone, you can be confident that the Selmer SAS711 has what it takes to go the distance in your career and nurture your growth as an artist.

The Henri Selmer Paris neck and mouthpiece

Both are designed and manufactured by Henri Selmer Paris and are meant to provide the player with exceptional tonal quality, good intonation, and outstanding control and response.

Yellow Brass with Matte Finish

The body, bell, and neck are made from yellow brass. This particular model has a matte finish. Other finishes include clear lacquer and black nickel.

High F# Key

This saxophone, like many other step-up and professional saxophones, has a high F# key, meaning that the range is extended up to the F# way above the treble clef staff.

F Vibration Dampening Bar

This bar dampens the sympathetic vibrations in the right-hand F# key, further stabilizing the notes in the lower register.

Drawn Tone Holes

This saxophone has drawn tone holes, meaning that the tone holes are drawn up from the body of the saxophone.

Post to Rib Body Construction

The posts are connected to the body via the ribs. The ribs are plates of metal that the posts are soldered onto. The plates are then soldered onto the body. This protects the body should the posts receive an unintentional nudge. The added mass also contributes to the acoustic depth and projection across all registers.

Pisoni Pro Leather Pads with Metal Resonators

The pads are made from treated leather and are capped with metal resonators. The resonators act as deflectors to the sound waves of the instrument when the keys are closed. The material of the resonators can affect the overall sound of the saxophone.

Blue Steel Springs

Amongst the brass keys, we have blue steel springs. Blue steel is more elastic than stainless steel, adding a more fluid action to the keywork.
