The Chariot is the first piece of two in a set titled "Emily Dickinson Speaks of Time and Eternity." The second piece is titled "Forever is composed of Nows." Both pieces have conservative ranges making them accessible to young developing choirs, and each piece features some unison writing, a canonic section, and easy four-part writing. The piano part cleverly adds interest while providing harmonic support for the singers.
