About the Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA)
The Minnesota Music Educators Association exists to develop, promote, and support equitable and comprehensive music learning and teaching across Minnesota. MMEA believes music is core to the human experience and plays a vital role in building creativity, self-expression, and aesthetic awareness within communities.
Through intentional and informed practices, MMEA strives for excellence and equity in music education while honoring the lived experiences of music learners and educators throughout the state.

Professional Growth for Educators
MMEA membership connects educators at both state and national levels, offering professional support, advocacy tools, and access to valuable resources. Members receive discounted registration for the MMEA Midwinter Convention, the largest gathering of music educators in Minnesota, along with free subscriptions to NAfME publications
Advocacy for Music Education
MMEA actively monitors state and national education policy to ensure music and arts education are represented when legislative decisions are made. Their Advocacy Task Force, legislative monitoring efforts, and annual advocacy workshops help educators protect and strengthen music programs in schools.
Opportunities for Students
Student programs such as All-State ensembles and the Elementary All-Star Choir extend learning beyond the classroom and provide meaningful performance experiences for young musicians.

The MMEA Midwinter Convention will take place February 12–14, 2026, continuing its tradition as a cornerstone professional event for Minnesota music educators.
