We are now entering the “big league” of the Yamaha Clavinova CLP Series…the CLP-775!  Linear Graded Hammer action, Grand Piano response Damper Pedal, and a 3-way sound system make this (as well as the CLP-785 and CLP-795GP), the ultimate in style and functionality for every level of player!

One of the standout features of the CLP-775 is its sound quality. It is equipped with Yamaha’s acclaimed CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial piano samples, which are recorded using Yamaha’s proprietary “Binaural” sampling method that emulates the perceived sound as delivered to both the players right and left ear. This adds a dimension of realism that is unheard of (pardon the pun!) in the digital piano industry. The CLP-775 also has a selection of other instrument sounds (38) that includes electric pianos, organs, and strings, making it a versatile choice for any genre of music.

In addition to its impressive sound, the CLP-775 also boasts a realistic playing experience. Its GrandTouch keyboard action, with wooden keys (white only), simulates the weight and resistance of an acoustic piano, allowing for a natural and expressive performance. The CLP-775 also has a three-sensor system that captures the nuances of your playing, resulting in a more accurate and responsive touch.

The versatile connection options on the CLP-775 add to its flexibility. It has a USB audio recorder that allows you to record your performances and save them as audio files (.wav format). You can also connect your Bluetooth-enabled device to use your instrument as a fabulous sound system!  The USB-to-Host connection lets you connect to your smartphone or tablet and use a variety of music apps for both learning and controlling the instrument. The CLP-775 has a built-in metronome and a variety of drum rhythms, making it a great tool for practicing and performing.

In terms of design, the CLP-775 is a stylish and modern instrument. It has a slim and elegant cabinet that is available in two finishes: polished ebony and polished white. It includes a matching bench as well as a sliding key cover.

A feature that more advanced players might enjoy experiment with is the Touch Sensitivity settings in the utility menu.  With this feature, you adjust how the keys respond to how you play (heavy, light, or somewhere in between) by adjusting the settings between the 6 options; Hard2, Hard1, Medium, Soft1, Soft2, and Fixed. This will even add nuanced adjustment to the tone you pull from each key!  And while experiment with controls, do be aware that the damper pedal on the CLP-745 includes a half-pedal function for very fine control of phrasing and lines.

Overall, the Yamaha CLP-775 Clavinova is a top-of-the-line digital piano that delivers an authentic and expressive playing experience. Its advanced sound and touch technology, versatility, and connectivity options make it a great choice for musicians of all skill levels. Whether you are a beginner looking to learn the piano or a professional looking for a high-quality instrument for recording and performing, the CLP-775 is an excellent option.
