Yamaha CSP-170 Clavinova Piano Overview
Welcome to Popplers Music. My name is Josh. Let’s talk pianos.
Today, we are going to be taking a look at Yamaha’s CSP-170 Clavinova. The CSP series of Clavinovas came out just a few years ago. Yamaha Clavinovas have been around for decades, but the newest addition of Clavinova integrates technology in a way like never before.

Yamaha teamed up with Apple and Android developers to create an interphase that everyone is already used to using for a more user-friendly experience. Let’s take a look at all the amazing features the CSP-170 has to offer.
Recreating the touch, tone, and power of the finest concert grands is just the beginning. Clavinova CSP is packed with thoughtful technology geared toward helping you become a better player. It turns your favorite songs into piano scores and teaches you how to play them, lets you lead a virtual orchestra, join a jazz ensemble, add backup singers, and more.

First and foremost, the CSP-170 is a piano. With that, you get Yamaha’s NWX keyboard action with synthetic ebony and ivory tops with escapement. Other features include audio to score, stream lights that remind you of Rock Band or Guitar Hero, tablet-based user interphase, and amazing samples of Yamaha’s CFX concert grand and Bosendorfer’s Imperial piano samples.

The Smart Pianist audio to score feature turns the songs in your music library into easy-to-play sheet music. Pick your favorite arrangement and turn on stream lights to learn how to play them. The CSP’s stream lights help intuitively guide your fingers through your favorite songs. You’ll be playing the right notes at the right time in no time.
Yamaha’s advanced binaural recording process recreates the tone, power, and nuanced colors of Yamaha’s flagship CFX and Bosendorfer’s Imperial concert grands. The resulting sound is so natural, you almost forget you’re playing a digital piano.

Weighted graded keys reproduce the authentic touch, response, and natural key return of a grand piano, while Yamaha’s smooth release technology captures the color and nuance when playing staccato, legato, and everything in between.
Yamaha’s innovative virtual resonance modeling, short VRM, recreates the resonance of the soundboard, rim, and frame to emulate the natural feeling of an acoustic piano, even when playing with headphones. The CSP’s vocal harmony lets you plug in a microphone and sing along with three virtual background vocalists. The exclusive vocal harmony two system allows you to correct pitch, adjust the level, and number of harmonies and more.
The CSP’s accompaniment styles lets you add ensembles of virtual musicians to your performances, simply by playing chords in real time. Add any one of hundreds of musical genres from small jazz ensembles to full orchestras. You control the harmony and dynamics of these ensembles following you. Developed by professional studio musicians, it’s the perfect accompaniment for any style of music you can imagine.

Yamaha’s proprietary synthetic ebony and ivory keytops have a natural comfortable feel that players of all levels can’t wait to get their hands on. Clavinova CSP models come in a matte black finish and a polished ebony finish.
