Yamaha GB1K 5′ Baby Grand Piano vs. Yamaha GC1 5’3 Baby Grand Piano

Welcome to Popplers Music. My name is Josh. Let’s talk pianos.

Today, we are going to be talking about Yamaha’s GB1K 5’ baby grand piano and the GC1 5’3 baby grand piano. The GB1K and GC1 are Yamaha’s most entry-level baby grand piano models. In this video, I will give you a brief overview of the models, compare the main differences between them, and then give you a short playing example. Let’s get started.

It starts with over 12,000 parts, fashioned from the finest aged woods and the world’s most advanced materials. Each piece is assembled by artisans in a tradition of old-world craftsmanship.

When it all comes together and you touch the perfectly balanced keys and hear the rich harmonics and subtle silky colors, you know it’s not just any grand piano. It’s a Yamaha.

Even though these are Yamaha’s most entry-level options for baby grand pianos, Yamaha’s commitment to excellence never waivers. Here are the specs for each piano. Feel welcome to screenshot them for your records.

One of the main differences between the two models is the cabinet size and the factory in which they are crafted in. Yamaha’s GB1K is crafted in Yamaha’s Indonesia factory whereas the GC1 is crafted in Yamaha’s factory in Japan.

When it comes to pianos made by Yamaha, the important part is the company of origin, not the country of origin regarding where the piano was made. All of the 12,000 parts that go into making a baby grand piano are made in Japan 0and then sent to Yamaha’s factory in Indonesia to be crafted for the US market.

Another small difference between the two models is that the GB1K has a music desk that does not move back and forth whereas the GC models and higher have an adjustable music desk.

The last difference I’d like to note is that the GB1K offers more finish options such as the Gregorian or French provincial models.

Please feel free to enjoy some of the examples that are played on these pianos:
