Hunter Fisher's Babe Jesus Lay in Mary's Lap is an a cappella setting for grade 3-4 SATB. Ideal for sacred settings or holiday concerts, this piece is particularly suited for Christmas and Candlemas. First premiered at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Whitemarsh, PA, in 2022, this setting of George MacDonald's poem A Christmas Carol captures the loving connection between Mary and her son as she gazes upon the sleeping Christ child moving from lullaby simplicity to more declarative moments. This piece reflects Hunter Fisher's distinctive style - lyrical and narrative-driven, balancing clarity with contemporary expressive depth - and will make a strong addition to holiday repertoire.
