From "Seven Children's Songs," Op. 61
The heartfelt lyrics of this charming piece originate from the beloved children’s book, Peter’s Christmas. This poetic work is a snapshot of the ideal Scandinavian Christmas in the 1800s and continues to be read at Christmastime in Denmark. Between the two best-known musical settings of this poem—one by Danish composer C.E.F Weyse, and this one by Grieg—the Weyse setting is the most popular in Norway.
