Ralph Johnson creates a cool vibe in this approachable, but genuine outing in straight-8th fusion style. Layers are added to layers for a calculated build up to a gritty ensemble punch. Every section and part gets the melody at some point, with solo space for tenor sax. A note-for-note transcription of the recorded solo is provided. Detailed rhythm section parts provide voicings and comping patterns for younger players. Top trumpet note: F# 5. (4:00)
