The lyrics of A Sia Sia originate from a Hakka nursery rhyme from the Guangdong Province of China and depict little magpie birds flying freely. This beautifully crafted work presents the rustic customs of the Hakka culture through musical contrast, strong melody, and rhythmic excitement. This tremendous piece will connect choirs with Chinese culture and history, and is a fantastic addition to concert programs of all kinds.
