Yamaha P22 – 45 Acoustic Upright Piano Overview
Welcome to Popplers Music. My name is Josh. Let’s talk pianos.
Today, we are going to be talking about the Yamaha P-22 acoustic upright piano. The Yamaha P-22 acoustic piano falls in the middle range of Yamaha’s acoustic piano lineup. The B series, which I cover in other videos, leans into the P-22 series with a couple of their models, and the U series is the professional model.
The P-22 has been very popular in schools, churches, and homes. Some of the pros from this piano include the wooden finishes having no upcharge, so if the furniture aspect and having a wooden cabinet is important to you, this is the piano for you.

The P series soundboard and ribs are crafted from solid spruce that has been hand selected at Yamaha’s Kitami Mill in Hokkaido, Japan giving these pianos a richer more resilient voice and evenly balanced tambor across the entire keyboard.
The next aspect of the P-22 that has years of engineering behind it are the back posts. The back posts are made using Yamaha’s proprietary wood drawing process. They’ve gone through years researching the best way to make these back posts. They’re important because they will keep your piano sturdy, in tune, and resilient for many years to come.

The next component to the P-22 that we’re going to go over is called the V-Pro plate. Yamaha was the first company to introduce an advanced vacuum shield mold casting technology called the V-Pro to create a stronger, lighter, and more durable frame for Yamaha pianos.

The hammers on the P-22 are crafted from the finest materials that Yamaha uses on other pianos. The hammers and the felt give the P-22 an excellent tone and responsiveness for every keyboard player.

The next aspect are the strings of the piano. The bass strings are hand wound from copper. The strings on the piano are perfectly balanced for the P-22 and the design of the piano.

The last aspect of the P-22 that is unique is the wide music desk. Some pianos have a shorter music desk that can only fit two or three pages, whereas the music desk on the P22 is designed specifically to be able to hold more music on the piano.
