This is the third song in a five song set titled Appalachian Stories. This individual piece, Down in a Coalmine is sturdy and begins hymn like. Each pieces uses a stylish Appalachian fiddle and here the fiddle handles the segue from the opening hymn style to a dance as they tell the story of the workers who travel deep into the coal, deep underneath the ground.
