Written for concert or festival programming, "Chrysalis" is a welcome addition to material at this level. Tom Davis' unique harmonic style and flair for counterpoint really makes this swinging chart fly. There is a written solo for alto saxophone included, as well as some excellent suggestions in the IDEAS FOR IMPROV section of the score.
