Be My Hands and Feet' is a response to the words and deeds of the Risen Christ, connecting language of the resurrection with the demands of discipleship. It would be appropriate throughout the Easter season. . . . It would also be appropriate whenever images of mission, ministry and discipleship appear in the Lectionary readings throughout Ordinary Time." —Tony Alonso
This is a piece that will have many opportunities for use throughout the year, as indicated in the composer’s notes. There are several appropriate places in the liturgy for this text; the refrain is ideal for quick memorization, making it attractive for use during the Communion processional. The optional bridge, with its contrapuntal cries of “Alleluia,” provides a nice contrast to the mostly homophonic texture of the verses.
