Perfect for Good Friday or anytime during Lent, Calvary’s Tree offers Mary McDonald’s signature style of a beautifully conceived and heartfelt anthem. The soft, sad cadence and 6/4 meter hauntingly depict Christ’s painful and long walk to the cross. The “Blessed Redeemer” text soon soars and then calms to a hushed and reverent conclusion.
