Three cheerful, glittering, spirited works that are fun to play and enjoyable to hear. Useful as voluntaries or hymn introductions, the carol-like settings require a supple touch (articulation) and transparent registrations.
The spirit of "Hark! The Glad Sound" (RICHMOND/CHESTERFIELD) is brought to life by a cascading ritornello and accompaniment figuration based on the inversion of the opening notes of the c. f.
The ABA structure of the setting of "Rejoice, Rejoice Believers" (HAF TRONES LAMPA FÄRDIG) presents the articulation of Christ’s coming as both quiet delight and jubilant fanfare.
The Christmas selection is "O How Joyfully" (SICILIAN MARINERS/O DU FRÖLICHE) and is presented in music box fashion in ABA form.
