Burkhardt's new setting of ST> COLUMBA will become a favorite. The first stanza begins simply, with a soloist singing to a simple accompaniment. Unison treble voices sing stanza two while the third stanza breaks into four parts in a creative vocal accompaniment to the melody. The fourth stanza is a beautiful a cappella treatment. The fifth stanza is in canon with a simple handbell or keyboard accompaniment leading effectively into a sixth stanza treatment where everything is combined with congregation and descant.
