Written in 6/8 time, this piece begins in the key of E minor with a melancholy lyrical section written mostly in thirds in the right hand. This leads to an E major section in 4/4 time which contains triplets in the right hand, the first note of each triplet being marked by a tenuto to outline the melodic line. The mood of this section is reminiscent of memories of falling leaves. The piece ends with a return to the beginning material. This piece is truly musically and expressively written.
