When Dreams Awaken is a spirited, vibrant composition for concert band that captures the electrifying moment when potential becomes reality. From the very first measure, the work bursts forth with a bold fanfare, immediately establishing an atmosphere of boundless optimism and anticipation. This opening statement serves as a wake-up call, heralding a new and exciting journey. Dotted eighth and sixteenth note figures abound. The adventurous harmonies (something often not heard at this grade level) will ensure that young players have a firm grasp on the complete range of their instrument, as well as a deep understanding of enharmonic spellings. This is an energetic piece that's perfect as a prelude to graduation ceremonies or any festive occasion. Correlates with Tradition of Excellence Book 2, page 34.
