The Yamaha 480 Intermediate Baritone Saxophone
Yamaha saxophone keys are designed from the player’s perspective, with emphasis on comfort, speed, and overall playability. This redesigned key layout makes the baritone saxophone easier to hold and play.
With a vertically integrated bore and neck design from the YBS-62II, the instrument responds like a professional horn. The shorter bell helps center the challenging intonation of the bari’s lowest notes. The optional detachable peg allows players of all sizes to comfortably play and control the the YBS-480.
YBS-480 Neck & Neck receiver
The neck and neck receiver are vertically integrated from the YBS-62II model to give the response of a professional horn at an intermediate price.
Ergonomic key layout
A new key layout is featured on the new YBS-480 that prioritizes ergonomics. It can be played comfortably despite its larger size, resulting in outstanding playability.
Regular key posts
This style of key posts reduces the resistance and makes the instrument easier to sound. Here, the key posts are soldered directly to the body of the saxophone, freeing up the bore’s vibrations and lessening the instrument’s overall resistance.
Tear drop front F key
The unique tear-drop shaped F key improves playability through ergonomic design.
Seesaw key
The left-hand seesaw key has been designed to increase playability as well as provide a more comfortable feel.
Two-point contact
Two-point contact is adopted for enhanced projection and a free-blowing response.
Two-piece bell
Two pieces of brass sheets are jointed together by the hands of craftsmen, then shaped to the bell with a machine.
Bell-ring
Bell rings supports the instrument to vibrate well when players blow into it.
Separate style key guard
The separate key guards feature adjustable screw cap stoppers for professional-style technical adjustments.
Improved low B-C# connection
An improved mechanism from low B-C# connection ensures the consistent closing of the low C# key and promotes a clear response from notes in the low range of the instrument.
Newly designed peg and peg post
A peg and peg post are newly designed. The light weighed peg and peg post reduce the influence on the sound when the peg is equipped.
